General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a 3-year diploma course followed by a 6-month internship, focused on nursing care and midwifery. It trains students to care for the sick, injured, and elderly, and to assist during childbirth. The curriculum includes subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, First Aid, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Midwifery. The program blends classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training in hospitals and community health settings. GNM graduates can work as staff nurses, home care nurses, or ward in-charges in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes, or pursue higher studies like Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
