LBS Admission 2026: Documents & Reservation Checklist (Avoid Rejection)

Campus Search Team 2026-06-15 8 min read

Wrong, expired, or missing certificates are the top reason LBS applications are rejected or lose reservation benefits. Use this checklist so your claim is not lost. (Applying first? Start with our [LBS 2026 dates & how-to-apply guide](/blog/lbs-nursing-admission-2026).)

Reservation at a Glance

Government colleges

CategoryShare
General (merit)50%
Reserved50%

Within the reserved 50%: 10% EWS, 10% SC/ST, remaining to OBC.

Self-financing colleges (of the seats LBS fills): 60% General, 40% Reserved. EWS does not apply here — about 10% SC/ST and ~30% OBC.

1. Common Documents

  • SSLC certificate: Scan and upload the original, not a photocopy.
  • Plus Two mark list: Previous-year pass-outs upload the original mark list. State-syllabus students who passed this year (mark list not yet issued) can give register-number details. CBSE/ICSE students upload a self-attested online print.
  • Nativity proof: Kerala-born students can use birth certificate, SSLC, or passport. Born outside Kerala? Submit a nativity certificate from the Village Office using your parents' documents.

2. Reservation Documents

  • Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) — OBC: Must be taken for 'State Educational Purpose'. Certificates taken for Central purposes or employment will get the application rejected.
  • Caste certificate: SC/ST from the Tahsildar; OEC from the Village Officer.
  • EWS certificate: Forward communities, family income below ₹4 lakh, from the Village Officer. Applies only to the 10% seats in government colleges.
  • Minority certificate: OBC minorities such as Muslim and Latin Catholic can use the NCL certificate itself as minority proof. General-category Christian minority students must obtain a separate minority certificate from the Village Office.

3. Special Reservations

  • NRI seats: Submit the sponsor's visa, passport, relationship certificate and sponsorship certificate.
  • Fisherman quota: For fee concession via the Fisheries Department E-Grants, upload the Fisheries Department certificate.
  • NCC / Sports quota: Record the quota correctly in the application, then post the application printout and certificates to the concerned offices within the deadline.
  • Differently-abled: Submit certificates in the Medical Board prescribed format; a special verification follows later.

4. Certificate Validity — Don't Use Old Ones

  • NCL, income and EWS certificates must be based on 2025–26 financial-year income.
  • NCL certificates must be taken after 30 June of last year; caste/minority certificates after 30 June of the previous year.
  • Old certificates will be treated as invalid.

5. If There Is a Discrepancy (Rectification)

After Final Confirmation, applications go through scrutiny. Any discrepancies are published on the Candidate Portal at the relevant time. You must upload the rectification certificates within the notified period — otherwise the related claim or the application is rejected. Check the portal and website notifications regularly.

Quick Rejection-Avoidance Checklist

  • ✅ Only one application
  • ✅ NCL marked 'State Educational Purpose'
  • Originals scanned (not photocopies), clear and correct
  • ✅ Certificates within validity dates
